Hi! I’m Sofia Vera Valdez, and I am thrilled to be part of the Giraffe Laugh team as the Media Coordinator. Originally from the Philippines, I moved to the U.S. at 19 with my family. Here, I continued my education, earning a degree in Media Arts and Public Relations from Boise State University. I gained valuable experience as a Production Assistant and News Producer at KTVB. I also serve as the Media Coordinator and Secretary for the Filipino-American Association of Idaho, where I love connecting with our community.
What inspired me to join Giraffe Laugh is its mission to empower families, ensure school readiness, and build strong futures for children. As someone hoping to start a family of my own soon, I find this mission especially meaningful. I know how important it is to provide children with the right environment and resources to help them thrive. I deeply believe that kids are small but mighty—brimming with potential, quick to learn, and always surprising us with their humor and wisdom. My love for teaching began during my time leading children’s activities at Vacation Bible School, which remains one of my favorite experiences.
In my free time, I enjoy traveling, singing karaoke, and spending time with my husband, Joe, and our two Chihuahua fur babies, Obi and Flaco. Being with family and friends is my greatest joy, and I’m always looking for ways to create new memories.
I’m excited to contribute to Giraffe Laugh’s vision by using storytelling and media to highlight the incredible work we do for children and families in our community.
