September is a wonderful time to get out and explore the Treasure Valley as a family. The days are beginning to cool down, fall is just around the corner, and our community calendar is full of opportunities to play, explore, experience something new, and spend time together.
And family fun doesn’t have to mean spending a lot of money! Many of the events happening around the Treasure Valley this month are free or low-cost.
Events like this are a wonderful way for children to experience the many cultures and traditions that make our Treasure Valley community so special.
Art in the Park | September 11–13
Have a little artist at home? Art in the Park is a great place to let their creativity and curiosity lead the way.
Hosted by the Boise Art Museum at Julia Davis Park, this longtime Boise tradition brings together hundreds of artists, along with live music, food, entertainment, and hands-on activities just for children.
Families can wander through the park, discover different kinds of art, talk about favorite colors and creations, and maybe even leave inspired to make something together at home.
Art in the Park is free and open to the public.

Boise Fall Festival | September 12
Pumpkins, crafts, animals, and plenty of opportunities to play, fall fun is on the way!
The Boise Fall Festival at Expo Idaho includes live music, arts and crafts, food, pumpkin photo opportunities, and activities for children including inflatables, face painting, a jumping pad, and a petting zoo.
This event is low-cost, with general admission starting at $5 at the door. Be sure to check current pricing before you go.

Nuestra Herencia, Nuestra Tierra | September 13
Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated September 15 through October 15, and families can begin the celebration a little early at Nuestra Herencia, Nuestra Tierra (Our Heritage, Our Land) in Nampa.
This bilingual, family-friendly event celebrates culture, community, and the outdoors through music, cultural performances, food, vendors, and activities for children.
Kids can also enjoy a bike rodeo, bicycle and helmet giveaways, and activities that encourage families to learn about conservation and explore Idaho’s outdoor spaces together.
The event is free to attend.

Hyde Park Street Fair | September 18–20
Another Boise favorite returns to Camel’s Back Park!
The Hyde Park Street Fair is a fun opportunity to spend the day outside together while exploring local vendors, food, music, and entertainment. With nearly 200 vendor booths and live entertainment throughout the weekend, there’s plenty for families to see and experience.
The fair is free to enter. Parking near Camel’s Back Park can be limited, so it’s a good idea to make a transportation plan before heading out.

Learning Happens Everywhere
At Giraffe Laugh, we know children learn through play, relationships, exploration, and everyday experiences with the people they love.
A morning watching balloons can spark a conversation about how things fly. An art festival might inspire an afternoon of drawing at home. A cultural celebration can introduce a child to new music, foods, languages, and traditions.
But sometimes, the most important part is simply spending time together.
