Nadia Beckham

My Name is Nadia Beckham. I moved to the states with my family when I was 8 years old. I have been married for 5 years and have a little girl. I grew up in a huge family with 9 brothers and sisters. I speak Russian fluently and am trying to teach it to my daughter. Sometimes it goes well and other times not so much. I love books, but not on a computer. I really love old books that you can hold and breathe in. I love music and lead worship at my church. I play guitar and the violin which I love with all my heart. I have a CDA, an AA in Interdisciplinary studies, a BA in Elementary Education, and am working on my MA in Education. I love teaching because I love inspiring children about the world. It’s like the first time I squirted whipped cream in my daughter’s mouth and her face lit up with joy. I love to see that wonder in children’s eyes. For those children who are loved at home, I want to provide learning and help build strong characters and for those children who are not loved, I want to love them while providing an environment that inspires them for great things.  Growing up in a big immigrant family, we had nothing but each other. We wore what we had, ate what we could and went to school where ever they would take us. My heart aches for children who have no options and for parents who want so much to give their children the best, but can’t. I want to be a part of giving every child an opportunity to receive a great education and be part of a place filled with love and inspiration. This is why I chose Giraffe Laugh.
